My name is Ethan Myers. I am 24 years old, currently a student at BYU-Idaho, and I like to play X-wing.
My mission: To tell stories about my games without going into depth of the complex rules and conditions to those unfamiliar with the game. To help beginners learn the tactics and strategies that will lead them to becoming proficient players. To create missions for experienced players to try for themselves.
How long have I played X-wing: I played for two years. I was introduced to it by a colleague because I saw miniature ships and I had a craving for playing ship based games. At first, I felt overwhelmed and disinterested in it because I thought there were too many moving parts to keep track of. After my first game, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I couldn’t even sleep because I was thinking about it. A few weeks after, I got my own copy and introduced the game to several others. My collection gradually grew as the months went by. I now own over 70 ships.
Why do I play X-wing: I don’t have one particular reason, I have many. I like ships. I’m not a huge fan of Star Wars, but I love the ships. My favorite games as a kid were the kind I was in the cockpit of a ship, flying and gunning down the enemy. I love the suspense and thrill of each game I play because the deciding factor of victory and defeat are decided by wits intermixed with chance. Each game offers a unique challenge that I have to think quickly how to overcome them. Finally, I love to tell people about my battles and can do it in a way that they can understand what’s going on without going into depth about the rules and card effects.
